right now I use sharebuilder, but $15 per trade is pretty annoying

is there a place with a better deal somewhere that still has a very small minimum investment?

Ameritrade is $11 flat per trade
Scot Trade's 7 dollars is only limited to Market trades and not for Limit trades.

Buyandhold.com has $2.99 trades if you don't positively have to have real time fills, and your choice of three execution windows during the day (10am, 12:30pm, or 3pm). It's $15 if you HAVE to have a real time trade done. Far better than Sharebuilder since you don't have to pay full boat for a real time trade when you're doing sales. If someone can beat $6 for a round trip equity trade I'd love to see it.

Scottrade does market trades for $14 round trip. You only need $500 to open an acct. I transfered from Sharebuilder last year and paid them their $50. Worth every penny.

www.freetrade.com

20 free trades per month
after that $3 per trade for the 21st-100th trades
$2 per trade for 101st-200th trades
$1 per trade after this

It's a division of Ameritrade.

freetrade is great...it's no frills but you can subscribe to various ameritrade services for $10-$20/month. (level II quotes, command center (which is the ameritrade GUI), news services, etc. even without the services it's great if you want to just make a couple trades a month.

One thing though...there's a $5000 initial deposit minimum (you can take out as much of it afterwards, but you still have to put up $5000 from a bank account.
