Hi all,
i ve stumbled across this awesome forum and i m a bit of a newbie seking for a lil help .

I ve just changed the mobo for the 1 st time in my PC.
It's a P4 /FSB 800, slot 478 and I chose an Asus P4P800 SE which I hope is a decent MB with a Zalman fan .
I am using 2 RAM bars of Kingston 1024 .
It's not exaclty clear to me If i should put the RAM in slot A1 and A2 ( blue and black )
or in the slot A1 and B1 ( blue and blue ). There are 4 slots on the MB and the seem to work by pair . From left to right A1 ( blue ) A2 ( black ) B1 (blue) B2 ( black).
I m clueless here so someone may be able to tell me if it matters at all and if it will affect the stability / performance at all of the machine .
My guess is to go for the 2 blue slots but it's just a guess and i m not sure what "dual channel" means ...
Second question is about the bios .
It's from 05, should I upgrade it or just leave it as it is as long as the system is stable ?
I can't find the frequency of the ram nor latency anywhere in there .
thanks for your help and I hope I provided enough and clear informations.

Thx for the help guys.
Next noobie question is ...
Can i use my old 512 RAM Bar PC3200/400 with the 2 new 1024 ?
I ve always heard " don t mix different ram value together " but it might as well be one of these urban legends .
