Just got a new Dell Dimension 4600. It uses an Intel 865PE chipset, w/800MHz FSB.
I took the minimum RAM from Dell: 2x128MB sticks, then purchased 2x512 sticks.

Should I just leave the original 128's in DIMM slots 1 & 2,
and put the 512's in DIMM slots 3 & 4--
or is there a benefit to putting the larger 512's in slots 1 & 2?

Thanks in advance.

1256 MB of RAM -- that's awesome :D

..but I would also like to know if the order matters.

it doesn't matter - i also inquired about DELL RAM and they said it doesn't matter which slot you put it in since it will all be dual channel. However, one thing you should make sure of is that it is running up to the speed of the ram that you ordered since mine isn't.

Good Luck
