Which SLI Mobo? Abit or MSI

Hi,
I am looking at building a new PC. I will most likely be going with an athlon 64 3700+ san diego, and need to pair it up with a mobo. My two main considerations are the msi neo4 sli and the abit an8-sli. I am looking at the two basic versions, which are in the $130-$135 range. It seems like there isn't a great sli mobo right now. Are there any new ones on the horizon that I should wait for or are bios updates taking care of most problems I read people having? BTW, Asus is out because I won't go with the basic one (due to reviews) and the deluxe and premium get a little pricey.
Thanks for the input.

Corrected. I like to use MSI boards for my system builds. Very reliable boards. Over 500 systems complete and no board failures. I think I can count on them, but I hear other people have had bad luck with MSI.

Luck of the draw I guess.

Gotta use what works for ya! Many years ago I had considerable problems with MSI so I switched to Asus. The A7N8X-Deluxe and the P4C800-E Deluxe both never broke and never came back. So that's where I landed....

Regards-

It seems like too many people have had problems with the new asus board, so I have a hard time warranting the $50+ difference for the board. I don't want to pay $175 for a mediocre board.

DFI is out because I was really disappointed in my lanparty 915p-t12 (yeah, I was with Intel - and wasn't happy with that either, but now I am back to AMD).

The one thing I do consider is the handiness of the external SATA connection on the Asus. I already have a SATA 2 IDE connector, so I could use that to power one of my hard drives in the few instances when I want to back up to it, etc.

I guess my problem is that I have had most manufactures for mobos and none of them really blew me away. I am mainly looking for a fairly quiet board that is very stable. I rarely overclock, but I heard the 3700+ is a decent overclocker so I may try it a little.

Why are you bumping this thread? You have already stated that you aren't willing to run DFI, and you have decided (for whatever reason), that you have no willingness to spend the money for a real board (ASUS A8N-SLI Premium). Since I'm not the forum cop, I can only conclude that someone here will shortly create a "NEW" mb that meets your needs. Of course, you will wake-up tomorrow

I haven't seen enough evidence to say the asus is a "real" board. It seems I have heard a lot of complaints with all sli boards, and so I am just trying to get the best bang for the buck. Why do you think the asus is so great? If I get good information, I will spend the extra on the asus. Just seems like the msi is a better value.
