Which single core 2.4GHz is best bang for the buck?

Will Probably team it up with an NF4 Ultra MOBO, 7800 GT, 2 gigs RAM. I'll probably do some OCing on air and an XP 90, but I want to be sure it kicks butt out of the box.

Athlon 64 3800+ Venice - $282

Athlon 64 4000+ San Diego - $334

Opteron 150 Venus - $335

Athlon 64 4000+ Clawhammer - $399

venus runs cooler but i think san diegos go slightly higher
if u are gonna look at venice, buy a cheaper one
definitely not the clawhammer

None of them! 2.4ghz is the top of the A64 line, top of the line chips are never the best bang for the buck. The best bang for the buck is the lower clocked chips that can easily overclocked just as high as the top end chips.

I would suggest

Venice 3200+
San Diego 3700+
Opteron 144

Any of these should easily overclock to 2.4ghz and beyond, and give you the best bang for the buck.

no, that's what dividers are for. CPU multi= simply does not matter as long as your board will hit high FSB

i.e. Venice 3000+ with multi of 9 would need 334mhz FSB to hit 3.0ghz. With 120mhz RAM divider, 334x.6= 200mhz RAM
