Which should I use on a 9800Pro ?

I was just wondering if anyone had any input on which cooler would propably be better for a Radeon 9800Pro that's flashed to an XT and OC's to 450mhz on the GPU ( 460mhz max but this causes overheat and lockup after a few mins, no artifacts though 😵 ).

The AMD HSF is this one .

I have lapped both coolers and removed the metal spacer arround the GPU of the 9800 to ensure proper contact.

Any thoughts as to whether the AMD HSF or the Microcool Northpole would be better ?

Would this be the copper hsf?

They will both probably provide about the same cooling potential. Use which ever is easier to attach. The AMD hsf may cool better just because it was meant for a cpu, and not a chipset.

Actually this MicroCool NorthPole is the one I have 🙂 And they are both about the same as far as attaching. The CPU HSF is prob a bit easier to attach as I just have to screw it on vs the MicroCool that requires putting the screw mounts on then attaching the heatsink.
