Amazingly enough, both have a score of 91 on Metacritic.

I've played Baldur's Gate 1, enjoyed that. I didn't play Fallout 1/2 but I did play Wasteland a a LOT when I was a wee lad.

Your thoughts on what should be next?

Dragon Age x10000000000000000000000000000

Fallout 3 is a sorry excuse for an RPG. Voice acting is terrible, story sucks, sidequests are lame, graphics are about the same between both. Even the stupid VATS sucked. By the time you get halfway through the game and lvl up, all the enemies will die easy. The only fun part of the game is exploring and being able to mess with people and blow up towns and kill everyone to be an a-hole.

Pretty much. Fallout 3 is decent if you erase the memory of the first two from your mind. That and the story will have you abandoning the main quest and just going off on your own, rambo style, as was already mentioned.

I got halfway through Fallout 3 and got bored and gave up. The story is slow and not very engaging, the combat is boring and awkward, gameplay is repetitive, and your character ends up pretty much the same regardless of what skills you go for. It looks pretty, but it's a wasteland so it all kinda looks the same. It has some neat stuff, but overall I think it was pretty over-hyped and I regret buying it (at least for the $50 I paid for it)

Dragon Age had me addicted from start to finish, and I'll probably start over real soon. It looks great, the voice acting is top notch, the combat is fun and allows for a few different playing styles. It's got a great story, and even most of the side quests were somehow tied into the main quest so it felt less arbitrary.

No.No. No. No. No, FO3 has much better graphics.

Having said that I like Dragon Age more, but both are excellent games.

You liked that voice acting? The main quest was horrible. The story wasn't even that good. The graphics were bland and the textures weren't good at all. Yes it's supposed to be a wasteland but they could use better art direction cus nothing looked good.

Um...Fallout 3 was awesome, and I played the original Fallouts many times. I thought it captured the older games well.

Dragon Age was also awesome.

Depends on your tastes I guess. If you like action-rpg then Fallout 3, if you like more of a stat based story driven RPG then go for Dragon Age. Both are excellent in their own sub-genre.

I didn't like Fallout 3, but loved Dragon Age, so I voted for DA.

Neither.

Play Baldur's Gate II and then Throne of Bhaal. Also consider Planescape: Torment. Then maybe do Dragon Age or consider Neverwinter Nights (1) for online multiplayer.

I've never played Dragon Age but I'm going to vote against Fallout 3. It's a really really good game, but the stability is horrible. Sometimes it runs for 5 hours without a problem. Sometimes it crashes after 30 seconds. The game is fucked beyond belief.

I've waited 6 years for dragon age. it was worth the wait!

both are great games, different gameplay styles, different atmospheres.
play DA first, then FO3 and by the time you finish both, the DA expansion will be released.

Assuming you actually have both games I would play FO3 first because, IMO, its the weaker game.

Both were pretty fun, but I think DA is way better.

Only reason I suggest this is because I had a recent experience where I played X rpg after Y and Y>>>>X and I couldn't get into X, because I kept thinking about how awesome Y was, even though both X & Y were phenomenal.

If its either or, I'd just play DA.

Dragon Age's combat is frustratingly tedious. I'd play Fallout 3 first. DA is the superior game in everything else though, it's only flaw is it's gameplay.

DA is for a more story driven game. FO3 brings the action. I thought that VATS was really cool too.

I've finished both, definitely Dragon Age. Fallout 3 is a good game but DA is much better.

FO3 was very bland IMO, I spent maybe 5-6 hours on it then got bored. The combat was incredibly frustrating (the slow motion nonsense drove me nuts).

Dragon Age is an excellent game though. I spent about 90ish hours on my first playthrough, and have been meaning to go back and do my second playthrough with a new Origin, but school has been getting in the way.

Sell Fallout 3 and use the money to buy the DLC and the new expansion for Dragon Age. Then play Dragon Age.

I really liked FO3. I'm currently playing Dragon Age. Both are great games. Very different (very open & interesting -vs- very linear & story driven).

I'd say FO3, because you can get it cheap right now. When you finish, pick up DAO.

This times about a million. I guess it's just not my style. I thought the graphics in DA are mediocre to garbage, and the combat system is absolutely unresponsive terribad. Fallout 3 feels like you're actually meshing/controlling your character. In DA it's just really sloppy and sluggish to get your characters to actually do something. Seeing someone sling a morningstar or hammer into the side of someone's bare head 5 times before it actually connects (and then nothing much happens) is about as uninvolving as it gets. I played it for a few hours and uninstalled it. Giant waste of $50.
