Which setup is better for *gaming*?

Athlon-B 1200MHz

ATi Radeon SDR 32MB

Duron 800MHz
Asus A7V-E
Herc Kyro2 64MB

Money is no object... (for those 2 systems only!)
I want it to last as long as possible!
I want *good* FPS at 1024x768 on MAX details...

Which setup will handle Max Payne (or future games for that matter) better?

Can you substitute a RadeonLE into the first system?.....the card is only like $70. Then you could hack it and turn it into a full blown 32meg DDR Radeon.

Radeon SDR is a waste.. yes get a Radeon LE which has DDR RAM and you can hack it into a Radeon 32M DDR with identical performance.

Doh! Well is it possible to go with the Athlon-B system and push the budget a bit and get the Kyro II? I think it'd be well worth it.

No can do... :-(((

The 2 system specs above are in the same price range of $356...

Yes, i know, expensive...and it's the lowest i could find...in ISRAEL. (Damn you!!!)

I'd get a geforce 2 MX400 before a Radeon SDR. (of course a Radeon LE would be the best deal...) If you don't have nVidia cards in your country, it's time to move. 😉

I would go with the duron and kyro2, because at high res and high detail the video card is the limiting factor not the cpu. Plus you can upgrade the cpu later when the the prices fall even more.

Well, actually, we do have a Radeon LE, but only in one store...they charge $100 for it.
I don't want to buy it from that store because i heard bad things about it...
We do have nVidia based cards here...Asus MX400 32MB costs about $165
The Radeon SDR only costs $70, so it's cheaper...

Do you still think that MX400 is a better buy, even if i'll have to add like $95 for it?
Hell,even the Kyro2 is cheaper than MX400.

Damn!

So what is the verdict?

no, definitely do not get an MX at that price. I'd get the Duron/Kyro2 between what you first posted, but the best would probably be something in the middle, like a 1ghz Athlon with the Radeon LE...

If money is no object then why don't you get a Geforce 2 Ultra or a Geforce 3? You definitely want the 1200Mhz chip over the 800Mhz one.

I said money is no object... (for those 2 systems only!)

So you won't tell me to get the second one because it's cheaper...I should have told you
that both cost the same.

My bad.

Athlon-B 1200MHz and Radeon SDR is a strange association since the Radeon SDR is quite too slow for a Athlon-B 1200MHz (Radeon SDR is quite a bottleneck in this system).

I would personally prefer a Radeon over a Kyro, but only if you get a full-blown DDR Radeon; the SDR is a bit slow for the system you want.
