Which service plan should I get?

I'm about to get a laptop, I've decided on the 12" iBook. As an employee of CompUSA, I have a few choices on the service plans.

AppleCare: 3yrs parts and labor (International repair, but doesn't cover batteries), 3yrs phone support. $178

CompUSA: 3yrs parts and labor, no phone support but covers the screen against 2 accidental breakage and 2 battery replacements. $155.

Thanks for your input.

I prefer to get the plan that covers accidental breakage.

I purchased a (PC) laptop from Circuit City with an extended warranty... after about a year it was having problems so I sent it in to the repair company. They immediatly told me that parts weren't available for this particular model (eMachines), so they would go ahead and buy me a new laptop. They let me get a 12" iBook G4 without any problems!

The point: if your 100% sticking with Apple, I'd say get AppleCare, but if you have ANY notion in your mind about switching to a PC, go with CompUSA (who would be more willing to buy you ANY laptop, not just a replacement iBook).

Good point, I figure that if they want to replace the notebook that I'll just get another apple.

I would go with the comp USA one it sounds like a better plan to me. Besides you probably wont need the phone support w/ the mac. Just use www.macnn.com and bring it in for service if anything goes wrong!

Something else to consider is the fact that Apple will support the laptop for the first year... you don't HAVE to take it back to CompUSA if you don't want to.
