Hi!

I have the A7N8X-Deluxe motherboard, with Silicon Image Serial ATA controller. I just installed the driver which came with the motherboard CD, but now when I'm thinking of re-installing the OS (WinXP), I want to make sure I install the best driver from the start.

I read something before in some forums about different performance with different drivers etc. Which one should I use, and where do I get these drivers? ASUS doesn't seem to be up to date, with the drivers on their site? (Seems very old)

Also, when installing XP on my Raptor disk, I have to use a floppy with the drivers on, right? I had some bad experiences with this in the past with the BX133-Raid and Win2k, since I recall it didn't recoginse some of the driver versions I tried to use.

This is the latest driver I found, browsing the web: V1.0.0.281, which also shows up on Asus site when choosing "beta". On Silicon Image site I found this version: "10032", but I'm not sure this one works on the A7N8X-Deluxe?

Is it recommended for best performance/stability?

Beta drivers should only be used by people who are having trouble with the current drivers. Asus will has the latest non-beta drivers on their site. Since the serial ata controller on that motherboard will be considered a "RAID" device, you'll need the drivers on a floppy when installing XP or W2k.
