Which SD card is fastest?

All of the following cards are about the same price on Newegg.com. I heard Sandisk is bad, but is that because it is slow or just unreliable? I will be using this card in my Pentax OptioS.

Sandisk Secure Digital 256mb Card, Model SDSDB-256-768 Retail. $68 free ship

Viking Secure Digital Card 256mb - SD256M - Retail $71 free ship

SimpleTech 256MB Secure Digital Card (SD Card) -Model STI-SD/256 Retail $85 - $10(rebate) = $75 + $4 ship = $79 shipped

Thanks for the responses!

Either the Viking of the Simpletech. Since the Viking is cheaper, I say go with it.

Sandisk SD and CompactFlash cards are slow as sh!t:|:| And they are crap.

The newegg descrip says:

SimpleTech 256: 10MB/s Write-10MB/s Read

Viking: Write Speed: Faster than 1.2MB/sec (8X), Read Speed: Up to 10MB/sec

Why does the Viking speed look a little fishy? Using terminology of 'faster than' and 'up to'. Does anyone know if these two cards perform about the same? Or is there noticeable speedup with the SimpleTech?

Thx

For SD, I'd ignore the sandisk as its slow and may have some compatability problems, for CF they still aren't fast but they work with EVERYTHING and have excellent reliability. Viking is usually a decent card. Also check dpreview.com and see if the owners of your pentax have had problems with certain brands.

just read through the pentax forums on dpreview and didn't see anyone having a particular problem with a certain brand...i guess viking is the way i will go

thanks for the help guys
