Which scanner...?

I'm looking into getting a new scanner and was wondering what all of you think.

I did my own research and it looks like I'm down to either the Epson Perfection 1240U or the HP Scanjet 5300.

There doesn't seem to be any comparisons between these two scanners in any of the old posts I searched.

So what does everyone think? I'm looking for the best bang for the buck and also reliability and quality.

ive only heard good things about the epson...go to the hot deals forum here to get one for 105 bucks...

That model epson is great, i have been using epson all my life, and not once has anything failed!

Another vote for Epson, although their TWAIN driver needs a little work.

I have an Epson 1200U here and an HP 6300C and I can't stand the HP interface.

I would personally go with the Epson. The HP's are extremely overpriced for what they offer.

Thanks for all the helpful suggestions everyone! Guess Epson is the way to go especially with the Staples price... just hope I can still get it since it's out of stock at Staples.
