Which Scanner To Use For Library Research

I would prefer not to xerox hundreds of pages of information at 15 cents per page at the library. Rather, it would be great if I could just scan the material I need right into my laptop.

Some of you must do scanning at the library and I would love to know what you are using to scan things into your laptop. I know there are pen scanners but I have heard bad things about them but someone out there must have found some scanner that works efficiently for library use.
