Which Samsung monitor

Hello,

Need to get 2 monitors for the 2 computers I'm going to build.
My and the wife both want a 17" monitor and I have decided to go with a Samsung. Question is which model? I have 3 that I'm interested in and would like to know some of the differences.

1. What is the diffrence between a 755DF and a 753DF?
Only think I can tell is the resolution. Anything else? Besides price.

2. Is the 700NF a good monitor? Is it a better model the the 755DF or 753DF?
Is the 700NF that diffrent type of screen where some people can see the lines in? Like a Sony Trinitron.

I think I'm leaning towards the 753DF as it looks like a good monitor and has a $30.00 rebate.

Any ideas about these monitors? Should I advoid one or the other for some reason.

Thanks in advance.

Brad

I have a 700NF and I couldn't be happier with it. Yes, it is an apeture grill monitor so it has the 2 visible lines but they are very faint and after a day or so you won't even notice them.

I put together a PC for a friend no too long ago and went with a 753DF. Very nice monitor for the $$. The refresh rates are kind of limited if you're planning on high res.

1. Yes you are correct. The 755DF has slightly higher refresh rates and a max resolution of 1600x1200. Nothing else, same picture.

2. Yes I think the 700NF is the best 17" monitor for it's price. As mentioned, it does have two faint lines but I don't find them a problem at all. The colors are much better than a shadow mask monitor like the 753DF or 755DF.

Both the 753DF and the 700NF have a $30 rebate. Unless you are really strapped for cash or you can't stand the lines, would I go with the 753DF. I don't know why Samsung never has the 755DF included in their rebate. They tend to change it every month and I don't think it's been on there since July (which is when like every Samsung monitor had a rebate!).

I got the 753DF six months ago. If you are running no more than 1280x1024 It is great stuff. For the price difference I couldn't see any reason to go with the NF. Depends on the resolutions you run at I guess. Great monitor for the price.

I think you would go blind sooner rather than later running 1600x1200 @ 65, let alone on a 17" monitor 🙂

Thanks Guys for all the good replys.

I think I will get the Samsung 753DF for the wife and maybe for me. I'm still deciding if I want to go to the 955DF and 19". Just not sure I want that big of a monitor. I could live with the 17" and save about $100.00.

Any ideas for video cards that would complement these monitors?

Looking at a Nvidea Gforce 32Meg for my machine. Are these good and stable cards?

Any ideas for a less expensive vodeo card for the wifes machine?

Thanks,
Brad

I don't think your wife will be playing much 3d intensive games will she? If not, grab a Matrox, their 2d is great.

No need to get a Geforce unless you're going to be playing games. Otherwise, put in a Matrox G400 or even G200. They have the best 2d quality. If you get a 19", I would go with a Geforce2. Their 2d pretty much sucks and ya don't want to ruin the excellent quality of your monitor with the video card! A ATI Radeon LE might suit you well for lighter gaming. It has good 2d quality too.

If you plan to game then I'd get the 700NF otherwise for just regular internet, word processing, etc... the 753DF would be ok.
