Which router to get?

I wouldn't get either of them, but if I had to choose I would go for the WPN824. I have a couple of the WNR-834B's and they have very poor coverage. With DD-WRT the radio is very erratic with most builds, maybe it will get better though. I do have a friend that has a WPN824 at home and it does seem to get very good coverage and he has had no problems.

The Zyxel is a good Router.

However it is Not so good that it worth while to forgo the flexibility that is offered by the 3rd party Router's firmware.

In addition the Buffalo Firmware is very good as is and can be used without Flashing.

It is worded a little confusing, it is $75.00 after a $10.00 rebate. I actually said $10.00 more after the rebate, just not as clearly.

However it is Not so good that it worth while to forgo the flexibility that is offered by the 3rd party Router's firmware.

SirJangly's stated requirements does not need third party firmware. The only reason I mentioned it is QOS that even DD-WRT does not do nearly as well as the Zyxel. I figured QOS might be important as he mentioned a gaming console.

If you want good QoS, you can always install Tomato on select routers. The WL-520gu supports Tomato.
