For those of us who visit other cities during the holidays, how about some recs of favorite places we might want to try?

I nominate:
Sadie's Cocinita on 4th St in Albuquerque. Their Patron Silver (tequila) margaritas CANNOT be beat!! And they have the best salsa (drooling now) and fresh light chips I've ever had! Take a few extra napkins to wipe your brow of the sweat from it being so HOT!!

:D

Good topic.

If you are in Tampa, The Columbia restaurant in Ybor City is the place to go. Be sure to see the Flamenco dancers... There are a couple of nice, small resaurants in the city, but the Columbia embodies the spirit of Ybor.

If you are a veggie, the NK (Natural Kitchen)Cafe on Kennedy is muy bueno. I learned how to make quite a few of their entrees, they are soooo good!

If you are in St Pete, the Hurricane can't be beat. Good food, good atmosphere... great after a day at the beach. Get there just before sunset and enjoy.

Dang, now I'm getting hungry...

ok, if you want to schedule a trip just for food, fine by me. Ok, so now that I think about it, I'd do the same thing if the food was worthwhile :)

This is my kind of topic. Me and my wife always go out and try all kinds of crusines.

If you are planning to come to New York, here are a couple of good recommendations.

Japanese (fusion food) NOBU (owned by Robert DeNiro) if you are lucky it takes about 3 - 4 weeks for reservations.

OIBL TIBS (One If By Land, Two If By Sea) Nice place to take your date for a candlelight dinner. Nice and romantic environment. Good place to purpose to you girlfriend.

Windows of the World. Top of the World Trade Center.{Don't look Down} For the money...go with the Steak...otherwise after you pay the check, you'll still be hungry.

Rainbow Room. In the Rockerfella center. Never Been there. I've a friend that use to work there. Expensive. $$$

in boston, gotta go to the north end and hit pretty much any restaurant in the area. my favorite is Mamma Mia, on the corner next to paul revere's house. while you're there, you have to go to Mike's Pastry on Hanover street and have a cannoli or four.

atlanta, i nominate Bone's for the steakhouse to visit. the chains are pretty good too (Ruth's Chris and Morton's). there's also this awesome japanese bakery, Joli Kobe on Roswell Road at 285 in the Prado shopping center. i could eat there all day.

If you really like Japanese Food.

There is a place in NYC
on 1st Ave and East 10st.

Its called Saporo East.
That place is pretty good.
The price is reasonable and the sushi is fresh.
They only open from 5:00pm to midnight.
The best time to go is b4 8:00pm otherwise expect to wail about at least 1/2 hr.

Mrytle Beach - Benjamins - 150-200 different items on the buffet. Fresh seafood: Crab legs, shrimp, lobster, trout, etc. The list goes on and on. Very TASTY. My favorite restaurant. Drinks are good too!!

Miami - Cafe Tu Tu Tango - The best appetizers I have ever ate. Alligator, Calamari, etc. Belly dancers, are dancing around the tables etc. Great place to hang out with friends and drink in South Beach.

Miami - China Grill. Very Expensive, but one of the best places I have ever ate at in Florida. Awesome Lobster!

Lexington, NC - Speedy's BBQ or the HoneyMunk - Best BBQ in the WORLD!!

Any place that serves double-shots of Goldschlager!

EDIT: Oh yeah, the restaurant. The Conesus Inn on Conesus lake in the finger lakes region of New York. They have forty-eight ounce prime rib, seafodd, steak, and it's all real good.

Also here in Tampa

On Kennedy blvd there is Miguel's. Good mexican food and great salsa.
On Cypress and Himes there is New City Diner. Great food at a great price.
On Rocky Point drive we have Oystercatchers. Best seafood around but it is a little pricey.
On Cypress and Dale Mabry we have J. Alexander's. Good food, good service and not to expensive.

In St. Pete.

Only place I go is The Globe Coffee Lounge. If you show up on saturday nights I will be there.

Hey Isla,

My one of my best friends does the website for Columbia restaurants.

Deslok -- <<If you are looking for margaritas, the ONLY place to go is El Cholo? in Santa Monica.>>

NO FsCKING WAY !! The BEST margarita in North America is at El Chavo, on the east end of Hollywood, where Sunset and Hollywood Bls. cross a Hillhurst Av.

A few years ago, I drove a new car back from Atlanta to L.A. and stopped all along the southern U.S. border looking for a better one. I don't believe it exists. BTW, la comida es excelente, tambien. :D :D

haha Harvey-- I'll have to remember that... but so far I like Sadie's best!
Also- all this talk about japanese food reminded me, if you have the chance somewhere, try Mochi- it's an ice cream ball wrapped in a rice conconction. Interesting. I had it in Hawaii at an ice cream parlor but I'm sure you can find it in any Japanese neighborhood?? Worth trying once at least!

And in Boston, I always loved Regina's pepperoni pizza - call me common - but how can you resist the grease dripping down your hand to your arm???

And in Calif-- anyone go to Double Rainbow?? I love that place!

Hey Yakko, all good choices. You are right about Oystercatchers... good food, but be ready to spend $100 or more for dinner for 2. Where is this coffee place in St Pete? I'll have to try it.

Have you eaten at the NK? You would love it.

Has anyone ever eaten at the Moosewood restaurant, I think it is in NY? I have all the cookbooks.... Veggie stuff.
