Sadly, I was thinking the same thing. It costs more, that means it's better, right? 😛 😀 Go for the higher priced one.
 
I own the 659 and it rocks. Controls my Denon 3805, Sony DVD player, HD set, blinds and lighting with no problems what so ever. Either way, You cant lose with either products.

The problem is that I can't tell what the big difference is between the two remotes to justify a price difference of ~$30

EDIT: I found this:

But it doesn't have the 680 remote in there. The 688 is just too much.
