Which reading to go by when determining how hot my CPU is?

remind me again where the socket is located. If it is the one incoperated in intel cpu's then that is going to be the closest to the right temp. The diode on the mother board is mostly mesuring the temp around it and will be a little off.

The diode is inside the CPU, and not the socket. The socket temp is the air inside the socket, not the CPU itself.

Im glad this question was asked. MBM5 reads 0 for my diode temp. How can I get it to read the diode temp?

System : winbond 1
CPU: winbond 2 diode
Power/Aux: winbond 3

I have no idea where it?s actually taking the temps from

Most only have the socket, and the diode temp is higher. The diode temp is more accurate, though.
