I'm a first time builder and I've got almost everything sitting in a Newegg shopping cart except for memory. Which memory do I get for the DS3 + E6400, I want to OC to 3ghz+. I'm looking for a 2x1GB pack (or single sticks if cheaper) of DDR2 800Mhz, within the $200-250 (after rebate if its worth it). I had the following in mind.
G.SKILL 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model F2-6400CL4D-2GBPK - Retail @ http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820231087
$199.99. 4-4-4-12. Good timings for a great price.
CORSAIR XMS2 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model TWIN2X2048-6400 - Retail @ http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820145590
$231.00. Not as good timings as the G skill, but from a brand I have heard of. Expensive in comparison tho.
Patriot 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model PDC22G6400LLK - Retail @ http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820220144
$245.99 AR. 4-4-4-12. Little on the expensive side with out rebate. same timings as the G. Skill above. Patriot? dont know to much about them.
CORSAIR XMS2 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model TWIN2X2048-6400C4 - Retail @ http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820145034
$252.00 AR . 4-4-4-12. On the expensive side without rebate. same timings as the Patriot.
I am seriously thinking about the G.Skills, for the price and the timings they seem unbeatable. But am I missing something? Why are they so much cheaper than the others, even when beating or matching the others in timings? Or am I paying to much attention to the timings? I am a noob, so please correct me if I'm wrong. If you have any other suggestions for memory please let me know, and reason it out for me please
. Also they must be compatible with the DS3 + E6400, and not be too large that they dont fit under the Scythe Ninja with the fan.
I'm so excited this is just the last piece of the puzzle.
Thanks in advance.
