I want to upgrade in the next few months by adding another gig and selling off the 512mb I have now (or not).

So which is the best? Obviously, I don't want to spend too much and basically want my apps to load up a little faster and reduce the loading times for (HL2, Far Cry etc.) and some choppiness.

OCZ PC-3200 DDR400 Premier Series 1GB
$139.99

Kingmax PC3200 DDR400 1GB
$121.00

Kingston ValueRAM PC3200 DDR400 1GB
$130.00

Geil Value Dual Channel 1GB PC3200
$127.00

Edit: No overclocking either.
Edit 2: Well, maybe just a little :)

How about Crucial and save yourself some money.

Mine do 2.5-2-2-11 upto 218mhz @2.8V (thought that might be 2.9V due to my mobo overvolting). That's dual channel and 1T.

Of course, I could have just got lucky :)

One thing don't get the Kingston as I've only heard bad things about it.

OCZ Value w/UTT AKA BH-5 aka Same chips in OCZ VX that goes for $250-300.

Does 2-2-2-5 @ 240-270 fsb.

Only disadvantage is they need 3.1-3.4V pumped through them.

Great value memory for overclockers, maybe a different story for you.

Goes wonderful with the new NF4 DFI boards since they support up to 3.6V.

I can provide a link if your interested.

Twinmos also uses the same chips, goes for around $100.

Same with the new Mushkin Blue line sticks.

Wow - I think we need to start a praise-to-Crucial thread! That's immense - I might try and see where I can get to. With an XP it'd benefit more from extra fsb with a bit of higher latency right? I'll up the voltage upto 2.9V (aka 3V with my mobo) and see where I can get to.
