My Lenovo desktop pc came with 4Gb of RAM. According to the Crucial.com Scanner Tool my pc can accept up to 8Gb of RAM. I assume my computer would run significantly better with 8 GB RAM, correct? All I do with this pc is surf the internet and keep records. Which budget brand would be best for my pc? This pc only has one memory slot, so I would need one 8Gb DDR3. Thanks for any replies.

My pc specs:
Lenovo H500S
Celeron J1800
4Gb RAM DDR3
W8.1 64 bit
Samsung 860 EVO 1 TB SSD

I personally haven't "changed my ram" but I have had taken ram in and out on computers. Be careful in snapping the new ram in place. I've done a little research for you and according to this youtube video
, you shouldn't have any problems. Just be sure not to touch the gold terminals on the ram stick. as far as picking a brand, I think that brands like crucial, gigabyte, g-force, etc are great. most brands are just fine, some just standard, a few maybe not as good like dell. but just make sure you get the right one that fits. maybe someone else more experienced can help you with any other specifics.

Can you take a picture of the memory slot(s)

I looked at the manual the the diagram shows dual so-dimm slots but the actual replace memory section shows regular dimm slots. Lazy people.

A picture of the memory slot with the existing module removed would be best. Memory is definitely SODIMM based like a laptop, but all the motherboard pictures I found weren't high enough resolution or had the memory slot in shadow so you can't tell for sure if there are 2 slots. My suspicion is that there is only one slot, but there is enough room for there to be two. Lenovo is always lazy with their documentation, so lots of times you can't even trust actual pictures are of the right system much less printed diagrams.

If there is only one slot, either of these should work for you. The top one is a slower module, but you have a very slow CPU anyway so it probably won't make much difference. Just do a google search for the part number (in yellow) to find the best price for either that you can get (8GB DDR3L SODIMM modules tend to be expensive for what you get, so I don't know if you'll find more than a 10% differential even with used modules on eBay).
