Which RAM is the better choice?

I'd like to use my current RAM in another system, so I'm buying new RAM for my current rig in sig. My current mobo supports both DDR & DDR2. Which is the better Ram to choose for a gaming system?
Corsair CM2X1024-5400C4 (DDR2) 2 stick of this = 2GB
or
Corsair TWINX1024-3200C2PT (DDR) 4 sticks of this = 2GB

I'm leaning toward the DDR2 for future compatibility, but the DDR1 stuff will save me ~$100 US (50 bucks per stick).

Is the DDR2 really worth it? is it higher overall bandwidth?

Hmm, I think the DDR-2 might be the better choice, future upgradabilty as you said, plus P4's do like bandwidth, so unless that DDR2 has really really bad timings, still probably the better choice.

in this case, I would agree that the DDR2 might be a better choice...then if you want, it makes it easier to get a new MB for your processor in the future if you so desire...🙂

please, fanboys, dont say "sell the rig and buy AMD" spare this thread your crapping please...

🙂

Thanks guys that sounds good, any other feeback or opinions?
I guess I'm concerned about the latency of 4-4-4-12. is the clock speed enough to overcome this latency?

DDR-2 generaly has higher latencies, but P4's benifit more from higher bandwidth than they do lower latency, so it shouldn't hurt your performance, and may improve it some. RDRAM was a high bandwidth high latency design as well and worked well with early P4's.

I recommend the 2gb of DDR2, and I think you should be able to find pretty cheap gigs out there, if you look around a bit. Also, does 4x512 result in 2t with prescotts?

My mobo only has two DDR2 slots and four DDR slots, so I'm limited to that arrangement. which is why I was looking at two 1GB sticks of DDR2.
