Which RAM is better?

Which would be optimum for the E6600 I just purchased...

Crucial Ballistix 2GB (2 x 1GB) DDR2 1000 (PC2 8000)
or
OCZ / 2GB (2 x 1GB) DDR2 1066 (PC2-8500) NVIDIA® SLI?-Ready Edition...

The E6600 can do the full 1066 FSB if I understand correctly. Both pairs of sticks are $185 (Crucial's requires a $50 MIR, OCZ does not) and have the same 5-5-5-15 timings. I was under the impression also both are pretty good makers and both are Micron D9GMH as far as I know. Oh and I purchased the Gigabyte DS3 mobo.

So are they basically on par with each other? I am thinking OCZ just to avoid the hassle of the MIR...

Just curious, I haven't bought ram in 4 years, haha.

How much performance would you gain over a RAM running at 533mhz? I get the same performance with my DDR800 RAM at 533 and 800, but DDR1066 is the same as the FSB clock. Does that matter?

The E6600 does run at 1066mhz FSB, but it's a quad pumped 266mhz FSB. Ram is double pumped, 533mhz DDR-2 is actualy the ram that runs at the stock FSB speed of the E6600. The 1066mhz ram is running stock at 533mhz FSB, which would be equivelent to a 2132mhz FSB on the CPU..basicly it's for high FSB overclocking.

Exactly.

So if one is NOT overclocking the cpu, then one only needs 533mhz DDR2 memory in dual channel to get the 1066mhz FSB of the cpu.
