I'm looking to build a system around an Athlon 64 2800 and a Chaintech VNF-250. I'd like to start with 512MB of RAM but have the freedom to easily add another half a gig later. I'm not planning to overclock. Which RAM would you recommend? Chaintech's site has a broken link to the compatibility guide for this mobo and the guide for their ZNF mobo is rather cryptic.

I'm using the Mushkin 222 pc3200 at 1.8v and it's doing fine. But not much room for overclocking but as you stated your not interested. I'm sure there is a less expensive alternative though. Hope that helps.

Crucial (Micron) is cheap and good. It's CL-3, but there's not much of a difference between that and CL-2 with the Athlon 64, and it's like half the price.

I use two sticks of Corsair 512MB PC3200 Value Select in my Chaintech VNF3-250. They run at CAS 2.5 and they run flawlessly with this motherboard.

I definitely recommend you consider this memory. It looks like a stick of this ram only costs $82 at Newegg.

I'm running 2 sticks of Kingston PC3200 ValueRam and they work great too. Not a huge overclocker either so CAS 3 is fine for me...but I've heard some good things about people who have attempted to tighten the timings up a bit. I think it all comes down to whichever NAME BRAND ram you can get at the best price if you don't plan on overclocking.
