Which RAM (and where did you buy it) are you using successfully with the ASUS K7V mobo?

I was about to buy the following Corsair stick:

128MB 16Mx64 (16 CHIP) 168PIN PC133 SDRAM CAS2
UNBUFFERED 3.3V

Then I read a posting on another site that said this same RAM caused his K7V to lock up!

I just about blew $200 for 128megs of this.

Any suggestions or recommendations?

Thanks,rnmcd

I'm using 256MB of pc133 Infineon RAM from memman.com. It was highly recommended many places...including on Anandtech.

arthurb1- may I ask where you purchased it?

All the places I have checked say it is backordered.

Thanks,rnmcd

Is there such a thing as "OEM" RAM?

I haven't seen it specified at the sites I've visited.

If OEM RAM is available, what is the difference between it and RETAIL RAM?

Thank you, rnmcd

http://www.mushkin.com Straight from the source, these guys have the absolute best packaging I have ever seen, they dont send 2 measly RAM sticks in a huge box, but what they send it in looks safer anyway, they sent mine in a little bubble type pack...it was awesome...I belew it back up after taking out the RAM and kicked it around for a little bit :)

If I end up adding more RAM to my system later do the specs of the RAM sticks have to match exactly (e.g., buffering, latency, etc.)?

Thanks,Ron

NEC VC-133 SDRAM from memosun.com
One month ago 128 MB was $151

For a "truly noticeable" improvement in performance wait for DDR SDRAM and a compatible mobo.

The PC I built last month using VCSDRAM was for my son and daughter. Using a K7V mobo I was able to run 110 FSB, mem at 147 2:2:2, 1.0 GHz@1.1 GHZ.

I'm holding out for Mustang and DDR SDRAM for my PC :)

Specs don't matter (except for buffering...but you always want 3.3 volt unbuffered stuff anyway.) You can run PC100/133 together and cas2 and 3 together ofr different ns ratings. BUT, your system will only be able to run as fast as your slowest RAM.

128 Mb HSDram - pretty expensive, but for sure the best... I think I might go for Mushkin if I knew what I know now...

Apacher pc133 ram (apacher chips), spd says 3-3-3, but it runs fine at 2-2-2@133 mhz
