Which QB has surpassed the most expectations this year?

A lot of gutsy performances so far this year, where guys people have counted out stepping it up big time, e.g. Steve McNair leading the Ravens to where they are, and Chad Pennington for a while this year, unproven guys having great seasons, e.g. Vince Young and Tony Romo, and formerly established guys in a new situation proving their worth..e.g. Drew Brees.

Who's been the most surprising so far though?

I would have to go with Romo, with Brees who's having an MVP year so far a close second. Romo who's essentially a rookie has made the Cowboys into a contender after a season that almost turned into the gutter..

And then there's Grossman, on set to play a full season it seems, and has had games with QB ratings of 10.2, 36.8, 23.7, and 1.3.

well Romo has. nobody expected anything out of him.

but for me Rex Grossman far surpassed what i expected. i though he would last 3 games and get hurt for the season.

Me and my co-workers were talking about the chance Garcia has for Comeback Player of the Year after all he's done for Philly. Nothing special I guess, but we NEED him right now and he's coming through!

Romo, end of discussion.

Grossman is playing to sloppy now to even consider him.

Tony Romo, soon QB of future Super Bowl XLI Champs, The Dallas Cowboys.

hell you have to be impressed he survived! 4th year in the legue only time he has gone past 4 games! woot!

Did anybody really expect Rivers to be this good this fast?

Garcia is doing a good job but he's running the same offense he ran in SF where he went to three pro-bowls. So it's not that much of a surprise to see him doing as well as he is. There is a reason Philly picked him up.

Tony Romo has been a nice surprise but I think that the expectations were up there to begin with. People were screaming for him to be the starter back in the pre-season.

Vince Young - Personally I didn't expect much out of him but all the kid does is win. Big surprise to me.

McNair - He's the wiley vet and he's always been a good QB. No surprise that he's having the success he's having in Baltimore.

Carson Palmer - He came back awful fast but he's been playing great. I'm not surprised at how well he's playing but it was amazing to see how fast he came back from having his knee rebuilt.

Drew Brees has been good for a while but holy cow... He has a shot to break Marino's season yardage record.

Overall I picked Rivers.

He's lucky he played well enough two weeks ago and didn't get pulled.

I would have to give the nod to Romo. Garcia would be a very close second. He strapped the entire team on his shoulders and just might have salvaged the season.

He's still got two games to go, and Romo is one of them. Dallas will destroy Garcia come the 25th.

I didn't see a Rex Grossman option.. so I'm holding out my vote.

hahahah not a nice option =(

Close call between Romo & Garcia... vote went to Romo.

As for Grossman, he's gone backwards this season & is the Bears Achilles heel ... I can't see them winning a superbowl with him at QB.

He is up to 7 good games out of 14 now?

shoot i was going to say 5.

i'm just impressed he has not broke a leg or something. really i am not jokeing.

his first 3 years he has gotten hurt and missed most of the season.

Drew Brees: I expected him to play very well, so I'm not surprised at all.

Vince Young: Playing very well, but I had no expectations for him.

Philip Rivers: Playing better then I expected, but not very much.

Steve McNair One of the most over-hyped QB's in football.

Jeff Garcia: I thought this guy was done when he left SF & Philly could now win the NFC EAST... a close 2ed.

Tony Romo: When I heard he was the Cowboy backup, I laughed, but the joke is on me & he gets my vote.

Carson Palmer He's playing pretty much the way I expected... ok.

Chad Pennington Very good QB if he stays healthy ... the rest of the team is the shocker.

Rex Grossman Very bad QB despite a decent showing against TB.
