Hi guys,

I the General Hardware section I had asked about some parts to 'freshen up' my sons PC. He wants an upgrade for Xmas. I gotta order SOON!

It seems that he is getting a e7300 CPU w/ Asus PQ5 Mobo and 2x2GB Corsair ram along with a 4830 Video card.

We will be re-using his Antec Case, 80GB HD, and DVD Burner. I am very limited in what is left in the budget for a PS and I need to order tonight.
The current PSU is an old Antec 480W True power II.

Perhaps a BFG Tech GS-550 or a Antec earthwatts EA380? The BFG is about $50 AMIR and the Antec $48 w/free shipping.

IIRC, the BFG has 2x18A 12V rails while the Antec has 2x17A 12V rails.

If I could get away with my old TruePowerII, I wouldn't mind waiting to get the rebates back, then buying a PSU.

What do you guys think?

Thanks for the quick suggestions. I have to say that the BFG looks a bit better then the Corsair. Of course, there is a bigger gamble with the rebates, but if all works out (crosses fingers), for $5 more, I like the better output. Also, I think that I like getting a $20 check back rather then a $10 Visa card. I don't know why, I just think that the check is easier.

Any other suggestions? I figure that someone will post back after I order with some killer deal. So, I am gonna place an order for my daughter in the meanwhile.. I'll pass back here in 20-25 mins.

Ugh... WTF? the free shipping is 7-9 days?!?!? Even the standard shipping says 3-5 days and is not recommended to get it by Xmas....

Arghh... I don't know if I should bother risking it. Just get it with free shipping and hope for the best?

Perhaps I will just get a Cooler Master eXtreme Power Plus 500 Watt for $55 locally. Hmm... I'll have to look around a bit, maybe BestBuy has a decent PSU for local pickup in my pricerange?

Buy THIS in the next 2 hours 30 minutes for $24 after $20 mail-in-rebate.

Er... they nerfed it. Price went up $5 before 20% off and now you have to pay shipping, blah.
