Hi there,
i am buying a new PSU into my new Antec P180 case but cannot decide which to get. The problem is the that the PSU is mounted underneath the motherboard and the powerconnector for the CPU is located in the upper left corner of my mainboard - therefore i am not sure wheter a standard 45cm long cable would be long enough. I didnt messure the length within the case as it should arrive just today. I ve been thinking of these PSUs:
1. Akasa PowerPlus 550W
2. Chill Inovation 520a
3. Spire RockeTeer 500W
4. Enermax Coolergiant 480W

Ill be running 2 HDDs, 2 optical drives, an Opteron 144 @ cca 2500-2800Mhz, Audigy2 EX Platinum and one of the newest VGAs to come - deciding a SLi configuration in the future now (therefore such powerfull PSUs) - not sure yet. I want a PSU that can handle these components without any trouble and hold a stable 3.3V, 5V and 12V rails + it should be really quiet as well.
Yeah I have to state that i didnt choose those 4 just so - i cannot buy anything better than that here (except for Thermaltake) - and shipping from USA is no pck for me. Ive read some reviews on the Akasa and Eneramax and they seem really good but i didnt find anything on the Chill and Spire. ANYONE OF ANY HELP - as i said the cablelength might be a problem.

It is unlikely that any of those PSUs are actually made by the company whose neme is on the box (yes, even the Enermax), very hard to tell which one(s) may be worth bothering with. Only the Enermax among those listed is available here - it is decent but nothing to write home about. Far better to try a local forum or computer club where I'd expect they would be familiar with the local PSU market.

kruull, I have the P180 as well. Great case.
I dont know about the PSU you mentioned but I have an Antec TruePower 2.0 430W in mine. Its only a AMD XP 1800+ with not much else. Used for HT mainly.

You are right to be worried about the cable length since its an upsidedown design. The Antec TruePower 2.0 should fit nicely and are very very quiet. I also own a SeaSonic S12 430W. These are suppose to be one of the best and quietest PSU BUT I am almost certain the length is too short.

If you dont want to get the Antec PSU then use the one I mentioned as a guide (length) and see if the ones you want are as long. Sorry I am not at home so cannot measure for ya.

All the best!

Thanx a lot to both of you first:
1. the local PCclubs and forums S**K therefore i signed up here
2. I might be buyin the Enermax - has quite long cables and solid power.
Chill has only 45cm, Spire round 48cm and Akasa is loud and might not fit as its 18cm long :)
Enermax has a cable length of 55cm - that should be enough as the case i posses now is a server like one - actually its just like the Enermax 718 and the Frotnor has a cable length of 53cm - so that the Eneramx would be A OK. +the fans can be regulated manually as well as via BIOS.

Unfortunatelly not - the delivery would cost as much as a the PSU - allready thought abaut that possibility - or delivering one from Austria or Germany. There is also a problem with the warranty as well as almost none of PSU manufacturers has anyone for support here - only those I listed and some more like Fortron and Nexus - then i would have to send the PSU back to the store where i bought it...
