Which programming environment is the best for me?

Quick history, I mostly code PHP these days. I was a CS major for the first two years of college and thus know a little C++, no experience with Visual Basic though. I still have my student's copy of Visual Studio lying around, that's the only environment I've programmed C++ in besides the old Borland C++ compiler back in HS.

I want to code a program for the Windows environment that does text / image recognition with other windows, and can automate tasks by mimicking keyboard and mouse gestures based on certain information (obtained through the text / image recognition).

Would my 2 year old copy of Visual Studio suffice?

Also, can any of you guys recommend any good code development forums / web sites? I need a refresher in C++ (or whatever language you'd recommend), it's been a few years.

Under forum listing on the left hand side it cuts off after "Software - Apps ..." so I didn't see the programming line . . .

I realized my error after being reminded by MCrusty. That is why I referred to the category listing on the left hand side, because that is the only place I looked.

But honestly, I've apologized for my mistake and you guys can't get off my case. It's as if you guys find it orgasmic role-playing an e-thug.

Don't take it too seriously. Just learn very VERY quickly what topics go where. OT is full of monkeys who can't seem to friggin read. It's nothing personal; you're just the next guy in line to get both barrels. Someday, HOPEFULLY, the mods will actually enforce it like they used to and clean up this sh|thole.
