I'm shopping for a laptop and I want it to be able to run Vista Hom Premium. My initial preference is for AMD processors but am willing to consider Intel as well.

My AMD options are this:
A 1.6 ghz dual core or OR a 2 ghz single core processor. Which is going to handle vista better if all other things are equal?

If your ansewr is Intel, which one and please remember the total cost needs to be under $1000.

I would buy one of these, if I had to stay under $1,000: link. But, honestly, I'd buy one of these three, since they're just barely over $1,000, and are faster: link.

I would just go with a dual core processor from either AMD or Intel, depending on the price.

Get an Intel if you can, any Core Duo or Core 2 Duo would be ideal. Also the Pentium Dual Core (or whatever they call it, the one with the same model number scheme as the Core Duos) would be okay since it's based on the Core Duo architecture.
