Ok, first I've got the Noob questions:

X2 4400 is a dual core right?

Now this rig is gonna be for gaming, I am gonna be getting a ATI 1900 crossfire or XTX... PCI-Express

I do want to Overclock

I've read a lot and am still undecided. I've read that they are identical chips excepts the opterons are built for servers and stuff so they are more sturdy which is why they OC better. So is this true, is performance the same? I was looking at the Athlon X2 4400... but is there an equivilant Opteron that is just as good only it can OC better? What should I do? Thanks (sorry i dont know much about this stuff)

If you want to overclock, the general consensus is to go with the Opteron. Just pick one cheaper than the 4400 (165 or 170), and you should be good to go.

My 4400+ does about 2.64 max with water. I've seen many opterons over 2.7 on air. You said you're going to overclock so you might as well save the 50 bucks and get more performance out of your chip. =)

From what I heard, maybe just get a single core Opteron 146, and OC it to maybe 3.0ghz. (this is if price is a concern, as gaming doesnt optimize too much from dual core?)
