p4 c' run on 1.525 volts and amd 64's on 1.5v and have cool and quiet on some mobos...so the amds are cooler and nothing is worse than the prescotts(p4e's).The 64's at stock speeds will likely outlast,as well as out perform p4s.

My A64 runs 32Cidle at stock speed, and with Clockgen-made Cool&Quiet 28C in Zalman 7000al/cu.
Edit:40-42C full load.

It matters why? Planning to overclock and want to know headroom?

If you are running inside operational parameters, the temp is only relative if it is close to min or max. Otherwise, it does not really matter except for bragging about thermal efficiency.
