Which power supply's best?

Any recommendations on your favorite power supply or vendor? I can't figure out which ones are quiet or powerful enough for XP 2000+ or higher.

Im using an Enermax 431w. It works great and powers my electricity sucking rig(p4 2.4a@3.07, Samsung pc2700 512, IBM 60GXP, Radeon 9700) I heard the Antec's are really good but I have never tried it.

I have the Antec True480, and it is working flawlessly. My System sucks a lot of power, and I have never seen my voltages go out of spec. My system is a P4 2.0a, Intel D850MVL, 640MB PC800 RDRAM, DVD-Rom, CD-RW, WD1200JB, WD1000BB, GeForce Ti4600.

you know I was doing some research on PSU's and found something very interesting. These days you hear a lot of talk about enermax, antec and a few others. But these companies make other power supplies under different names. For instance, antec makes a brand called "High Power" and they are the same quality as antec but much cheaper. Just do some research and you will find much cheaper brands with the same make and quality of the well known brands.

Enermax and Antec are two name brands that everybody is talking about here but if money is no concern then ignore what I said and grab an enermax or antec power supply.

Actually, Antec doesn't make powersupplies. Antec, Enermax and other supplies are made by other manufacturers who sell their products under different names as well. The supplies that are made for Antec, Enermax, etc., are made to their specifications using their specified components and tested to their specifications. The other supplies these manufacturers make may or may not use the same components, testing, etc.

I currently use an Antec TruePower in one system and an Enermax in the other and am quite happy with them. That being said, I've also used many no-name supplies over the years with few problems. The only supplies I ever had that died were an Enermax and an 'Enhance'.

Speaking of... does anyone know what COMPUSA's PSU's actually are? I've been told that the COMPUSA hdd's are refurbished Maxtors. Anyone have an idea about the power supplies?

To make it simple stick with well known companies that make good quality power supplies like Antec,Sparkle,Enermax,Enchance,there`re others but in general you can get good prices on these if you shop around.If you want a quiet PSU then ones with FAN controlled knobs (let you adjust fan speed)like the Enermax Whisper FC series are good choices.For a XP 2000+ I would go with 350w or above as a starting point.

Id like to know that as well. Theyre pretty cheap but Id like to know who makes them

Check out the powersupply review they have at toms hardware. There was also a review done by anand but it's a lot older.
