Which Power Supply?

Xeon

Hello everyone,

I'm building a Dream machine and need to get some feedback on the power supply you would purchase for the following setup:

Asus P4C800-E
Thermaltake Highest Xaser III V2000A Super Tower
Intel 2.4C Ghz P4
2 - Western Digital 10K Raptors
1 - Western Digital Caviar
Pioneer DVR-A06U DVD/CD Writer

Keep in mind that this case runs 7 fans!

I doubt I'll use them all but as the case may be (no pun intended) I want to make sure I have enough juice and at the same time make sure it's stable juice for the rest of the machine.

Can any of you give me a recommendation as to which Brand an model you would choose and why?

I'm having a hard time finding any up to date reviews of the current PSU market so your feedback and first hand experience would be appreciated.

1. Put your parts in <a class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="http://www.belprofile.ro/psu.php" target=blank>here</A> and figure out how powerful a power supply you need.
2. Read <a class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="http://www.anandtech.com/showdoc.html?i=1841" target=blank>this AnandTech article</A> and pick a power supply you like, or else just get an Antec or Fortron with the required wattage.

I have a similar setup (but with only 2 hard drives and 5 fans). I use a <a class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="http://www.3btech.net/repcpotise45.html" target=blank>"Real PC Power Titanium 450W power supply"</A>. I think it's kind of marginal for my system, though, and I wouldn't use it in yours.

OOO that power supply calculator is good, cheers for the link! 😀

One of the better of the Fortron/Sparkle 350W models or the Heroichi 350W unit would be more than plenty.
