Hello everyone,

I have decided to take it upon myself to build a new computer. I purchased the Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe motherboard, and will be installing an AMD 64 3200 939-pin CPU with it. As far as I know, for now, the only other pieces of hardware that will be in my system will be 1 GB of RAM, 2 optical drives, one HDD, maybe 1 or 2 PCI devices, and eventually a PCI-Express video card.

I noticed on the motherboard a slot for a 24 pin connector for the PSU. I am very new to building PC's (this being my first!). I am at a loss as to which PSU's offer the best bang for the buck. Could anyone offer me any advice as to which PSU I should choose? You would make a girl's day and year!!!

PLEASE help, and let me know if you need any other information, THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!

well seems like you need a native 24pin PSU, and one with dual pcie power connecters.

off the top of my head the pcpower and cooling 510 deluxe SLI offers all of this. its a pretty penny though.

im sure others will chime in on cheaper alternatives.

Yes, I have found a few very expensive ones, I thought at first it was just me not knowing where to look... Thank you for your prompt response!!!

I keep seeing that name, Antec, pop up everywhere I search... This one, too though, seems a bit pricey.

Can you maybe recommend one in the $60-$90 range? If I have to splurge, I guess it may be worth it, I will just have to hold off completing my system a little longer :(

Well, that's why I am about 80% sure I will go with a quality PSU, apparently this motherboard is a very nice one. (I got it from my techie brother for christmas) All he did christmas day was go over all of the cool features it offered! I have looked up the prices on the board and they go anywhere from 220-250! I can't believe he spent that much on me!!!

And having read some articles in my research on PSU's, I now realize how important a good one is, and that is why I am here getting advice!

BTW, I found that Antec True550 for $111.

Is that a good price? :p

That's a good price. I'm not familiar with that site, so make sure it is the EPS12V, and not the standard one, when you order.

Kelly, If you are planning on using dual SLI cards I would tend to go a bit higher on the Amps for your 12volt rail on the PSU. It will cost a bit more but if you are planning on upgrading which that board will allow. I would spend the extra and go for the bigger. I think that last thing you want to dig out of a assemble system is the PSU..
