which ports are locked?

hi, i want to know which sata ports are locked for the a8n-sli. i tried OCing my rig but ended up with corrupted HD's afterward. They were plugged into ports 3 & 4. Normally, I would then think that ports 1 & 2 are the ones to plug into but I've been hearing things from ppl that it's 1 & 2 that are locked or the other way around. I also have the added problem of enabling sata ports 1 & 2 in bios then only having my HD's recognized when I plug them into ports 3 & 4 and vice versa. So please give me a clear answer on which ports to use.
