Which political party do you associate with?

Association with a party is moronic. The party system should never have been created, as it allows for the American people to become lazy, and not know the issues in our country. George Washington pleaded that parties never be created, and I agree with him. We should vote for the best person, not the party they associate with.

last option, klinging to a certain party is like rooting for a sports team, does not belong in politics

For those who are partisan...and we know who you are ;)...why do you not say that you are? Is it something that you're ashamed to admit?

No, nothing to be "ashamed" of. If you already know who they are then why do you care?;)

People know which I would pick, and if people pay attention to my posts here they would understand that my choice was made because of how close MY ideals and stances fit with the party's. None of them are perfect fits for my stances or ideals but I associate myself with that party which most closely resembles MINE.:)

I wasn't talking about you Cad...you've stated numerous times you aren't a die-hard partisan (although, I have to admit, there are times I question that ;) ). There are others, however, who will defend anything that has to with one party, and criticize anything to do with the other...Rs and Ds alike.

I don't really have a problem with those that say they are a registered R or D. It's just those that, regardless of the issue or the person, will take the side of their own party and dis the other side...this I don't agree with. Yet, it's kind of like almost a bragging point with some people. It's like some people are putting their loyalty to a political party before their own beliefs. It's kind of hard to explain in words...those who I'm describing probably can't/won't understand.

Look at the RR thread. I may be way off base, but I got the impression that any die-hard Ds automatically cast aside the thought that RR was any good at all. And when the subject of JFK came up, there was no way in hell certain Rs would admit any good came of his presidency.

I just don't understand it. How can a person have so much loyalty in a political party? It must be an issue of needing to belong to something.

I don't have a particular group I associate with. I vote for the lesser of the bad among the running candidates.

Probably socialist ideology.

If I had to choose between either a democrat or republican party today tho, I'd choose dem, altho both sides are too often shameless.

Being "partisan" isn't necessarily a bad thing. Being a blind partisan on the other hand...well...:p

Alot of times you'll see people "defending" things just because the accuser is on the "other side" even though they really don't care much about the subject. We all do that to some degree since we all get defensive if someone starts picking on our "freind". There are political partisan hacks on both sides here and I'm sure at times I come across as one if the subject matter is something I really feel strongly about. But meh - I don't like everything the Republicans are doing and have done, it's just that they do more things along the lines of my thinking and such than the Democrats do.

JFK wasn't "bad" but he sure isn't as great as what people try to make him out to be.:)

I am pretty "liberal" but I sure agree with you there CAD. JFK was "fortunate" (kinda sick I know) that he left when he did. If he hadn't, Vietnam and other issues would have consumed him like they did LBJ. JFK didn't have a clue on those kinds of problems. Trusting the CIA and the Cuban refugees to attack at the Bay of Pigs! What an idiotic decision! I feel there would have been more like that!
