I have just got a new gigabyte 865pe motherboard which is not playing fair. I am using a P4 1.4m which I know can run 2.4 on default voltage (mobile use 12x multiplier) the problem is that the board is not changing multipliers so at 1.6 it is reporting a 44mhz pci speed - not good. to get around it I need to tell the board that it is a 800 bus chip so does anyone no what pin that would be ?

OK for other peoples reference - I broke off bsel1 which changed the default boot speed to 133 fsb - it was supposed to default to 200 but for some reason didnt - but when going into the bios and setting it to 200 upon restart the multiplier/dividers had now sorted them selves out.

edit justa final note the zalman 7000 series wont work unless the cpu has the IHS without it and it wont touch

Sorry its a pentium 4 1.4ghz mobile - based on the northwood core but runs only 1.2v as standard. When putting the chip into a desktop machine it will run at 1.6 vcore and only a 12x multiplier.

well yea, just want to reassure him that was the right thing todo since his board came up as 133fsb.

that makes sense tho since even my 2.53b comes up as a 1.9ghz default.

:)

Its weird never had that problem on my p4b533, mx4lr or ic7. Its a gigabyte GA-8IPE1000MK micro atx 865pe board for my lian li pc9300 I have put together to replace a shuttle sn41g2, so far its whisper quiet.
