the overuse of the word "Thanks" in email correspondence. I just went through my inbox at work here, and out of 20 current items, 19 had "Thanks" at the end of it.

yeah, i dont say thanks unless someone did something for me or i'm asking them to. otherwise it's just my name (thats if i sign it at all)

my personal pet peeve is the word "leverage" -- why do we have to leverage everything? i don't even know what the word means anymore, that's how much it is abused

Thanks,
Kev

Actually, at the campus police department where I work currently, there's none of that - it's all cool-sounding phrases such as "units" (not Team Members or Associates), "responding officers" (not techies), and dispatch is referred to as "radio" (as in, "Victor Eleven to radio, I'm complete on the vehicle jump start).

I like the lingo at my job.

Reading through these, I realize how many of these phrases I've used. And I'm not a business guy.

Oh.. There are a few things that I hate with my job. Some of them are..

"I'll have a lube, oil filter"
"No.. I don't want the windshield washed"
"Better check the air in the tires"
"I'll take the good stuff"
"Just the lube, oil and filter please"
Talking about the weather even though I have an interest in the weather.

Then there are things that I hate that are "off the job" like..

"You should be an actor.. You are just so good looking!"
"Nice package"
"3 times is too much for me"
"Sometimes I think you are too smart for your own good"

And the one that I really hate..

"nice as*!"

"Looking forward"
"Proactive"

I guess I am the retrospective inert type.

Good topic, BTW.
