Which PC upgrade route should I take?

Option 1: Get Ipad and upgrade desktop to handle gaming even better

Option 2: Get Alienware M11x

Current desktop is:

AMD Phenom x2 quad core 3.0ghz
4gb ram
ATI 4870x2

Thoughts?

Why oh why are you getting an iPad? And I would say that your current setup would be perfectly good for most games; only a 5970 or CF 5870s would be that much better.

This. I too would like an ipad, but overall I think that it won't be worth it monetarily. A netbook would be a much better buy.

965BE is all you need. Overclock it to 3.8ghz and be happy with your AM3 platform; its plenty fast.
