Which patch for Quake 3?

Hi all,
I have to reinstall Q3 again. I seem to remember that the latest patch is not necessarily the best one to use. Can someone tell me which is the preferred version?

My prefered version, and that's the one that'll run with the majority of the mods (including RA3), is 1.17.

They radically changed the bot behavior and the physics in the 1.2x series.

I agree 1.17 here too.

1.17 is the best. The bot AI in 1.25 sucks plus they've screwed up the old timedemos.
