I have finally decided to register to vote. However I am unsure of which party to register under. Is there anywhere where there is a comparison of the different partys' views/agendas/etc ????

My parents are republic, so thats pretty much all I know and hear about. Even then, I don't know all that much about them.

I know there are tons of websites out there on the parties, but I would just like one or so to compare them all. Maybe not all of them. I know there are a lot. Just the major ones, but not just republican and democratic (Independent, Green....)

Thanks

the primaries are usually over by the time they get to PA. So that isnt a big deal to me. So i just registered as an independant. But i have always voted a straight democratic ticket.

Primaries (and only in a closed primary state) are the ONLY reason to register for a party, unless you intend to run for office yourself.

By registering for a party you are exposing yourself to endless solicitations for money from expert trolls who are not subject to such things as do not call lists.

You can register to vote as unaffiliated or independent, I've been doing that for years and in several states (sequentially).

Obviously there are far more than just 10 issues, but this 10 question political quiz is fun to play with. It'll show you the areas you most likely fit. Note: it is slightly biased towards the Libertarian party, so take its results with a grain of salt. It does give short descriptions and links to more detailed information for the various parties.

Here's what you're looking for, Summary:

If you're an ignorant poor white trash person or a very rich person who likes to keep your money, then register as a Republican.

If you're young, progressive, liberal, or don't care too much about politics, i.e. don't really vote, probably not make it to the polls, then register as a democrat.

Edit: All else, go independent.

Authoritarians want government to advance society and individuals through expert central planning. They often doubt whether self-government is practical. Left-authoritarians are also called socialists, while fascists are right-authoritarians.

BTW: I'm a registered Republican

I can't believe you're at least 18, and don't know anything about the political parties. A MORON LIKE YOU HAS NO BUSINESS VOTING.

If you don't know what party you should register under, you should not vote. Simple as that. If you are hell-bent on voting to excercise some of those hard earned "american rights', just register under independent. Either way, its a waste of time.

Why? Would you want someone to vote if they had no understanding of the political parties, and their views? Most likely he has no idea about the views of the candidates either.

The OP very obviously is interested in voting and wants to learn about the parties. Why do you want to discourage people from learning and voting? That's pathetic.

Even more disturbing is your comment "Either way, its a waste of time."

Don't bitch about the people in power if you're content to not vote and actively discourage people from voting.

Where did I bitch about the people in power? Its a waste fo time voting if you don't know anything about who you are voting for. Furthermore, it dirties the system. People shouldn't vote just for the sake of voting. They should vote for a candidate whom has the leadership skills, and views that they identify with. Its become a popularity contest, plain and simple.
