I know that they both of today's parties are pretty similar to each other and the Federalists, but I was thinking the Federalists are slightly more like Democrats than Republicans.

Republicans are supposed to be more for states' rights, not for gun control (Washington had firearms collected from the Whiskey Rebels), trade restrictions, and low taxes.

Federalists are like Democrats in that they stood for high taxes, they are/were both aristocratic, and they were mostly the party of the North and big cities. They also claimed to care about the rights of blacks, when they really just want to advance their agenda, and they both believe blacks are inferior. Obama's white ass believes blacks are inferior which is why he wants to give them affirmative action.

Finally, the Federalist's vision for America was for it to be like the U.K., and that's what the Democrats want us to be like.

If you think Republicans are more like Federalists, then please explain why as John Adams would certainly be a Democrat today.

They both are, to think otherwise is foolish.
Its tax and spend and "borrow" and spend.
Both are leading to expansion in the government. :p

On paper, the Republicans are less Federalist.
In practice, both are equally Federalist.

Federalism is suppose to be a system of government where the power and control is split between the Federal Govt and State Govt. So since the Republicans are against the Federal Government taking over Healthcare from the States, then that means the Republicans are more in favor of federalism. However, in recent years, lines have been dimmed concerning the concept of States Rights. One might wonder why we have state's rights anymore. For instance in certain areas like Helth Care States' Rights get in the way of the control of Insureance law and the protection of citizens. Republicans have wanted for years to have a more central government approach to insurance and to be able to cover citizens accross state lines. This makes medical coverage more complicated because States have all enacted their own requirement and regulations concerning medical insurance. There are times that State control and States' rights get in the way of common sense. Before we even think of making a Federal Run Medical Plan for the public, the Federal Government needs to make it possible for Federal legislation so Insurance companies can work accross state lines. This is why I think this O'Bammah Health Care Concept is so hard to take. First we need the ability to Federalize Health Care and take that right away from the states or to convince all of the states to allow health care plans to Federal Standards. Also, this one size fits all Approach needs to go.

Someone that really knows how health care works needs to go back to the drawing board and make some better choices using common sense.
