newegg selection

MSI - is poorly reviewed
ECS - reported issues with PATA
Foxconn - I've never dealt with
Gigabyte - I'm leaning towards
Intel - ??
The rest - getting expen$ive

I don't need raid or overclocking options or even SLI. Just a board that won't give me problems. Any experiences you guys have to share? Would be greatly appreciated.

Look for reviews on Intel DP965LTCK (since you don't need OC or SLI) . People say Intel boards are quite reliable. (I must add you "might" run into no-POSTing with stock bios just like most other conroe mobos. just need to flash the bios. but this is something usual with the new boards these days). I'm just thinking of exchanging my asus for an intel.

Yeah, except no overclocking on the intel board. Go with the Gigabyte DS3 or S3 if your bidget is strapped. DS3 is better.

I'd get the gigabyte board. In the thread about the intel motherboard, apparently people are saying it has been discontinued.

It doesn't matter whether I use two dimms or not for duo core 2 systems, right? Also, I was going to get a 533 1GB stick when I saw 667 1GB was the same price. Do I have to o/c to utilize the extra speed?

I was looking at this ocz valueram 5400
