Which P4 Mother Board?

Which P4 motherboard should I buy and why?
I will be ordering the P4 2.53Ghz
Please explain memory IE 2700/3500.

Depends on your budget and desired features. The gigabyte 8sg667 supports agp 8x and runs corsair pc3200 stable in all 3 slots. You can get them refurbished for $69 shipped at newegg. Or, the albatron px845 pev pro ($85 shipped newegg) is a good basic no frills board that overclocks very well. Many are running at 166 fsb with no problems. The asus p4pe is top rated by tom's hardware guide in a recent review of 13 845pe boards. I don't recommend the new granite bay boards until the price drops. I'm still waiting for sis 655, but have no idea when they will show up.

The Albatrons on the PE chipset are pretty good. One is the cheap basic version for under $90. The other is the fully decked out with every feature you want for about $140. My experience with Albatron boards are very good if anyone cares. Granite bay holds only a marginally advantage over the 845PE so I don't think GB is worth it. DDR333 is often referred to as 2700 (333 * 8 = 2700) and 3500 is DDR 433. Since PE only "officially" support DDR333, don't get DDR433 since you will be paying a huge premium for something you can't use.

I would get an I845PE m/b. I have the Asus P4PE and its super. But I have read a lot a good things about many of the others, Albatron, etc. You cant go wrong with these boards.

I tried 3 of the SIS648 boards and was not pleased with them.

Even though the PE chipset supports DDR333 yo can still run DDR400+ using async mode and that is where the P4 excels - it loves the bandwidth.
My Asus P4PE-L runs OCZ3200 at 186
My MSI 845Max runs CruciaPc2100 at 188

well this is what i decided to go with and im completely happy with and i know some people have had probs with this board but i haven't had any. Good luck on your choice theres alot to choose from.
