Which overclockable CPU's best for audio recording?

Hi! I am putting together a small DAW on a limtied budget but want to make the right choice as far as processor and ram are concerned. Please assis tme in choosing the proper config. Please explain your choice as far as experience using and expertise employing. Thanks so much, the Psongman
 
It depends on the software you'll be running. It could be either P3 or T-Bird optimized (SSE vs. 3DNOW!). If the software hasn't been optimized for either, then go with a T-Bird since its raw FPU is superior to P3.
 
Probably a Celron 566 or a P3 700 (100 mhz fsb). The Athlon/Duron platform is great, but not for recording. You are looking at cutting your options for recording cards by about 2/3. Not a good thing.
