The first one doesn't have DVI? Yech.

Im a noob on this front, what would I need DVI for ?

If you're video card doesn't have DVI-out then it doesn't matter anyway, but

DVI = Digital
DSUB (VGA) = Analog

Digital is better than Analog, especially at higher resolutions.

i think the reason there is no DVI is he is in the UK. there is an additional tariff or something for DVI as the us versions of those have DVI.

that said they are basically teh same panel. the X243 or whatever is a "gaming" line monitor, and I believe the only actually difference is the stand looks a little bit nicer and has some more tilt features, and maybe the bezel is a bit cooler looking.
