I always go with a SONY since I've had zero break downs in 5 years on about 20+ monitors for friends, family and myself. Before that I'd watch friends, family and myself personally buy a new monitor every 1-1.5 years due to break down/lack of warranty under breakdown with other brands (priceton graphics, KDS, IBM, Gateway to name a few). It wasn't until recently I broke that trend... sort of. I was looking at the SONY G400 or G420 and I was willing to spend $370 found at pricewatch for a new one (always buy new unless you trust the company doing the refurbishing will do a fine job at RMAing it down the road and the warranty they give you is a long time) but found the SONY G520 (21 inch version) for $400 + $40S&H (this monitor is a bit over 70lbs)!!!! What a great deal from directron.com (was a special of the day with $100 off a week ago), but it is packaged as a DELL monitor (so it says Dell on the front instead of SONY and is a P1110 model instead of G520 - big deal). I believe Sony makes it and it is identical to the G520 (1) with dual inputs for monitors and switch on front and (2) all specs for resolution and accompanying refresh rates. Having been to CompUSA and having seen the G520 I'm sure there is not difference inpicture quality and the specs for resolutions and fresh being the same... its a steal... keep your eye out for that sort of deal coming the way of the 19 inch monitor because the next day they did it for the 17" DELL (same as SONY's 17" I believe also). Good luck. Seems the trinitron tubes are the way to go and they offer better color and a sharper image than flat screens (they have flat screens themselves and their depth is getting much better... my last 17"inch SONY CPD-200EShad a depth of 18 inches while my new 21 incher has a depth of 18.5 inches - this is a rough measuerment with 12 inch ruler). They also seem to last a lot longer (don't know about other brands since I haven't bought trintron with other brands.
