I'm currently using win98se. I'm thinking about going to win2k.. but then again there's winme. What do you guys think? Which is most stable? I don't play much games. Does win2k support Tribes, Half Life, Diablo 2, Unreal Tournament, and Quake 3?

Win2K will MOST probably not play those games..it does have DirectX 7.0 included with it and all, but most people aren't reporting overwhelming success with games on W2K. It's good for everything else, so if you wish to upgrade, you might as well just focus on WinME..Regards

I am running Unreal Tournament, and Quake 3 right now on my Win2000 machine. I dont have Diablo2 but the box does say it supports Windows 2000.
Just make sure all your hardware is compatible with Windows 2000 if you do decide to use 2000 instead of 98/ME.

Windows 2000 is more stable, no argument. It's based on the NT core which is inherently more stable than the 9x core (which WinME is based on)

I'd say go 2000...I've played Half Life, UT and q3 on win2000...not Diablo, though. They all work. Oh, I've played Tribes too.

Diablo II, Half Life, UT, Q3, Homeworld, Starlancer....they all work for me under Win2K.

I have W2k and I play Diablo 2, Half Life, Dues Ex, UT and many others.

The only 2 games I couldn't get to work so far have been Lemmings Revolution and Sorry 🙂

All I need to do is find a GOOD cd burning program for CDs that supports my USB burner and I can chuck W98 for good (Since Nero finally started supporting it)

the sad part is, if you haven't researched it enough yourself to know what you're getting in to, you'll be back here asking for help and formating in in a week. :\

remember, when it comes down to it, win2k isn't an OS for the home user.

I'm running win98 it's ok, I loved the speed that win 3.1 had but it's so old and uncompatible. I would hate to try win2k cause every time I upgrade to the next MS operating system it seems the blue screen rate doubles.
