I have Windows 95 OSR2 on it right now, but it doesnt support my NIC, so I have to choose from Win98SE or WindowsNT SP6 to go onto it. I dont think Win2k is an option for this laptop, it is:

P133, 40MB ram, 1.4GB hdd, 10x cdrom, 10/100 PCMCIA NIC, floppy..

My one concern is NTs support of laptop's, specifically the PCMCIA bus...

Ideas?

Thanks

I would go with a Win98SE Upgrade from 95SR2. I did it with a laptop similar to yours, and it was fine. Check your OEM site for drivers and BIOS updates. Also make sure which PCMCIA bus it uses - 16 or 32 bit (Cardbus is 32, Card and Socket Services is 16.)

Go for a small linux distro, such as slackware! :)

search on google for info on ultra small linux installs on laptops - you are not alone with this situation..............

good luck!

what brand laptop is it? pcmcia is supported under nt4, i've used it myself on a few laptops, but i'd more be worried about drivers for your vid/sound/etc. so i guess check the website for the manufacturer or if it's off brand you might need to hunt down individual drivers.

If you have linux or unix experiance I would suggest freebsd, slackware or debian. If you have only windows experiance I would install the latest version of Mandrake.
